During the beach week prior to my wedding @bkrichar figured out that brown sugar in a mojito is dynamite. Well, I’d like to confirm that the same is true for a mint julep. I’m not sure about Brian’s original ratio, but I made a 50/50 mix of brown and refined sugar into a simple syrup and that is super. If the mint julep is a little too boozey then (in another move inspired by the original skankster) top it off with Coca Cola or your favorite cola beverage.

Our waiter at Lady and Son’s spent the majority of our meal gently mocking the entire Paula Dean brand and the requirement that he adopt Paula’s apparent y’all terrets syndrome. Needless to say he was rewarded with a substantial tip.
